Hi Lee B. and Robert C. and Me !

Your pages & mine were at the top of their respective Forums when the server-crash happened; this is why they were affected.

Our Threads are not able to create new-pages properly, due to a damaged database.
What is already there however, is not damaged, and will be still viewable by anyone who wishes.

There is no way to easily repair the damaged database so these Threads are able to create new pages.
This may put what's already there at risk & in my view is unlikely to succeed.

What we need to do, is to therefore start new 'Your Tittle' Part-2 Threads.
Some boards only run to 99-pages anyhow, so it is not unusual to see Part-2s of long-running Threads anyhow.

Our existing Threads, will be LOCKED, preventing any further 'ghost-posts' being added; and they wont be editable as a result of this either.
However, they will still be there, perfectly viewable & linkable to.

I would suggest Lee B. you edit your Post No.130 and Robert C. your Post No.260...
...to say your respective Threads continue as new Part-2 Threads on their Forums.
If you have started a new Part-2 Thread, you can put a link to it in your edits of posts No.130 and No.260 as well.

Following this, all 'ghost-posts' on the 'invisible-pages' will be deleted.
Your No.130 and No.260 will be the last-posts shown on the Forum, so will not return an ERROR when clicked on; the user will go to your Thread as normal.

There is no other way to deal with this problem.
No threads have actually been lost.
I for one, am pleased that mine will still be on Freerails; I've got some Part-2s to start as well !

This is extremely unlikely to ever happen again.
It's a fluke once in 10-years event.

:moose:

Now ... to get on and post more cool modeling !!

All the best.

Cheers.

Si.

Now where did I put my BIC & jerry-can ?

Okay, I'll change 130 on mine and the other one with content after that and will edit the rest as MOD DELETE on the rest.

Hi again Lee & Robert.

Just a correction to my above post to you both.

Lee Post #130 and Robert Post #260 will in fact have to be DELETED.
If you want to add a message or link at the end of your Threads...
...it should be done on your next editable-post prior to this.

It might be possible to add a new #130 and #260 ... AFTER the 'ghost-posts' have been deleted...
...but getting rid of these, means the last-post on the page will be initialy deleted also.

- - - - - - -

John, yes I'm aware of that.

7 threads were affected, as far as I can tell.
They are :-

Stoney Creek
Aus. O Outdoors
Caterpillar SIXTY
Timpo 1:32
Crookedest Railroad
Mysterious Moose Mountain
Soldering Batteries

ALL of these Threads are OK though.
They can be viewed as normal, by clicking on any of their pages at the left-side of their Forums.
Clicking on the right-side however will return an ERROR message.
These are the 'ghost-posts' that need to be deleted.

There's no point in posting to these threads now, as new posts will NOT show up.

If anyone comes across anything OTHER than these, that returns an ERROR message...
...Let me know.

Cheers.

Si.

Hi Bob D

The same as above ^^^ applies to your 'Soldering Batteries ??' Thread in the R.C Forum.
The 'ghost-posts' will be DELETED and the Thread with be LOCKED preventing any further posts.

You can start a Part-2 and link to Part-1 as described above as well.

It's NOT possible to post anything further in this Thread which will show up.

Hope that helps.

Time for tea and CHEESE Gromit !

You sure that the tea and CHEESE didn't get corrupted, Wallace?

Hi John & Tony.

Yes, the 'G' button is not appearing as it should.

There have been reported problems on Macs with Safari browsers a number of times before...
...but none as far as I know for P.C users.

Just for the record John & Tony...
...are you Mac or P.C ? and what Browser are you both using ?

You should be able to still upload photos though, using the 'attachment' button at the bottom of the posting window for now.
It's pretty easy to do, I'm sure you've done similar elsewhere.
