Hi again Tony.

I just changed my password...
...and it seems to be working fine for me.

Perhaps it was a key-slip, or upper/lower case thing ??

Hi Si,
The whole Gallery heading is missing from the menu option. so no photos by anyone are visible in Gallery because Gallery itself is not visible. The G gallery button visibility in the toolbar when posting is a separate issue

currently running Chrome under Windows 7 via Parallels on a Macbook Pro - confusing huh? :bg:

That was after 1E10 refused to play fair with Windows 7 and Yahoo Groups, but that's another long and unrelated story...

Hi John.

Yes I know about the Gallery in the menu.
The photos are appearing in threads as they should.
But yes, browsing through peoples Galleries seems to be 'switched off' or something at present.

It needs looking into.
Herb asked about this earlier, from a question he had.
I think Jim the server-guy may have to have a look at this.

Oh well ... I can still post photos as attachments at the moment.

" currently running Chrome under Windows 7 via Parallels on a Macbook Pro "

Seriously FUBAR !!

Why don't you get a Sinclair-Spectrum...
...the 'G' button might even appear !!

Hi Si I just changed my password to one I can remember and yet hard to crack, pity about the forum gallery I wish I kecpted that link I had.

The only problem with using the Browser is you can only post one pic link per post.

Hi Tony.

I'm pleased you were able to change your password...
...that function was working for me here.

Yes ... 1 pic. per post is the way it is with the attachment function at present.

The gallery is still there & displaying pictures to threads as it should.
It just isn't visible in the way it has been in the past.
It seems likely that the reset after the server-crash may have returned some setting to 'default' or suchlike.
It is going to be looked at to see what is possible.

10 pictures per page ain't too bad though.
Sometimes pages with more pictures than this...
...can take an eternity to load for slow-speed cellphone or 'country' users...
...they do for me !!

Hi Helmut F.

I just noticed in the 'General Talk' Forum another rouge-topic has popped-up.
There may still be one or two of these, I have not yet noticed.
I thought I got 'em all.
This topic was probably at the top of it's board when the server-crash happened.

The topic is :-
' Need Help Selecting Scale '

This Thread has lost the ability to create NEW pages...
...so cannot have any NEW posts added to it that will show up.
The NEW post to it today returns an ERROR message.

I'm going to see if the last-post problem can be removed.
But this Thread can't have any NEW posts added now & will have to be LOCKED.

Helmut F. please start another 'Part-2' of your Thread if you wish & continue the conversation.
Your original Thread can still be viewed & linked to in the normal way...
...just nothing further can be added to it.

I'm pretty sure this is the last problem-Thread from the server-crash out there...
...there were only a few.

Hi Tony.

Every experience I've had with PhotoBucket ain't good...
...they should have called it PhotoOuthouse, as far as I'm concerned.
Same with a lot of others, I aint even gonna mention.

I have some photos hosted on Google.
It's FREE and FAST, they have their own software called Picasa as well.
It's the only photo-host I would personally recommend.

However...
...the BEST place for photos that are displayed on Freerails-Threads, is here with the thread.
I'm sure you've seen on the Net, threads which say...
MISSING PHOTO
MISSING PHOTO
MISSING PHOTO
Pretty annoying...
...that's outside photo-hosts for you IMO.
(fingers crossed we won't loose ours !)

' Need Help Selecting Scale ' is in the General-Talk Forum near the top of the Home-Page.
Quite a lot of interesting comment there.

Stick to your HO/OO though Tony !!
Take it from me 'rubber-gauging' is the DISEASE of model railroading !
Stick to 1 scale, he says, as he starts messing with 1:12 figures again !!

Robert tells me it's the beginning of spring in Aus. !
Looks like it's the perfect time to rev things up on outdoor railroading.

You haven't got a chance in the cricket though !!

Hi Si, yeah that is one of the reasons I quite Photo Bucket, lost a few photos and a friend on anther forum lost all his pics from his US holiday.

I was looking at Google photos before and it is quite easy to upload pics, one problem everyone gets to see them, will give it a go, that way can put a few pics at once.

Yes, I am too far into HO scale now to change to another scale, never get the money I paid for my trains, even though I am at the low end of the hobby.

I do have an old Hornby 0scal clock work tank steamy, want to give it a new least of live ad a coach and power the coach bogies with battery power. My train club has a good mixed garden railway gauges will do a video next time I go which will be next Saturday.

Yeah not a good time for sinus and asthma suffers, the Australian native plants are the worsted for that problem with all the plants flowering, my back and front garden is full of flower, attracts the honey birds.

You will be in autumn now, we hope to get a break from the hot summer, last spring was pretty hot spring, makes a long summer, want to get all the heavy construction of the layout out the way by summer.

Hi Bob & all.

The photo you saw was posted as an attachment...
...so does not need the Gallery function to appear.

I mailed Herb very-early this morning, about a possible solution to the Gallery not being visible.
I hope that this solution will fix the Gallery problem.
If not, we will continue to investigate the Gallery situation.

Bob, & anyone else looking at this thread.
There are a number of essentially redundant threads around, such as the one Bob posted his question to...
...with support & problem type questions etc.

So that a more focussed & coherent approach to support etc. for members can be given...
...some of these Threads, like the one mentioned, will go, since there is nothing of any use there.
They are just making it difficult for members to get clear support & for it to be given in ONE place.

I'm going to try therefore to focus all support & problem issues in to 1 single main thread...
...which looks like it may well be the now renamed 'FREERAILS FORUM TECHNICAL HELP' Thread, in the READ THIS section, right at the very top of the Home-Page.
( THIS THREAD )

It will make it easier to deal with things as they come up & offer better support for users.

Bob, I think the Gallery will be fixed soon.
It has taken a significant amount of head-scratching to see the answer.

However, you should be able to post photos, right now, if you wish...
...using the attachment button, as discussed in some of the above^ few posts.
