Hi Reg

Nice, never seen snow.

I hope to get the chance in the next couple of years,
to go to the Snowy Mountains in winter.

Have to check out on the map where you are in the US,
is it on the east coast or west coast near Canada.

Have you thought of a chair elevator for the stairs for your wife,
I have trouble walking down the stairs and can't go down escalators, go up ok.

Here is a link to one that give you some ideas,
is the stairs straight up, this one is awesome be fun I reckon.

I have started work on the track plan, next post will post the first pic of the plan,
pretty happy, some improvements with the spiral making it longer.

Yeah I am lucky I went modular,
would for sure had to break the layout, this way I didn't.

Waiting to mid March or cool change coming,
first I need to pull up track and point on two modules.

31 degrees today a bit muggy,
be going for my walk 4pm when it is cooler and hopefully not going to rain.

My home is close to the west coast, on Puget Sound.  

I have been looking at the chair lifts. 
It is a part of the discussions.

You can have all the snow you want, as far as I am concerned. 
I do a lot of driving and don't like snow and ice. 
Fortunately, here in Western Washington, we don't get very much snow.

At last Camdale HO scale garden railway MK2 is well under way.
 
I called the demolition guys in,
to start pulling up the track on the old approach module,
the ply be cut up and made into 3 inch by 6 foot sections.

The first two pics of the new back yard and side of the house,
where the two reverse loops be going and the extra 10 plus feet,
probably the layout be with the extension be about 60 feet in length.

The second stage will have the second station hopefully four through tracks.

Stage three, the suburban extension three through tracks,
be part of the station complex with 5 end of the line platform tracks.

You live near Seattle, I have a friend that lives in Oregon other side of Seattle.
 
I reckon a way to go with the stair lift, will make it easy for your wife,
don't know how expensive that be over there, cheaper than here.





Two more pics above pic of module set up ready to start lifting the track,
the next module be the next one to lift all the track, good thing is,
wont need any work in modifying the module.

Only had one afternoon over the weekend to get anything done,
being too damn hot 38 degrees again today, we finely had some rain at last,
back yard is looking good and front yard coming along,
possible storm again today, yesterday we 20 mm's in 20 minutes.





The bridge is going to yet again rebuilt,
taking too long to join the bridge from three sections, finding it too hard,
well that be in the next post.

Have finely finished drawing the main line with stage two and three.

Don't think I be able to do any more improvements, this is it,
now the job to modify some modules and built the layout.

Will be stating on stage one, this way building the layout in stages,
can finish my dream layout, better than before, with new design bridge.
The layout is 60 feet by 31 feet stage two, stage one 44 feet.

We are have cooler days next week in the low 30s.

With the first stage being 44 feet,
might have enough track to run into the terminus platforms,
so I can shunt the Indian Pacific at the end of her journey from Perth, be fun.

Have my hands full if I run a container train going the other way.

Second pic, plan close up of the second stage with two reverse loops.

The idea of the reverse loops, is to be able to turn the Ghan around the right way,
coming from Darwin to Alice Springs and into Adelaide.

Same when coming from Alice Springs, so the Ghan be facing the ring way,
going over the Elizabeth river bridge and onto Darwin. 





I like to design my layout so I can add onto it,
starting off on stage one and so on.

I have two and a half boxes of Peco flexi track,
should have enough since the bridge has track down.

Hopefully be ready mid March to start the building program,
most of the decking is built.

Well under way with the new track plan.

Have made some changes to the main line track plan mainly for the terminus platform track,
the trains will access the platforms from the western corner module,
and will have a new approach module.

The old approach module is no more,
will become the eastern corner module only one track accessing the station complex.

When the passenger trains be leaving, the access lift out bridge wont be in place.

Hopefully start work on stage two and three, giving more running time and layout be bigger,
60 foot in length and second station in the third stage.


The first pic.
The old approach module be cut back to 18 inches,
and from smaller end cut straight 12 inches to the 18 inches.
The cross over is a double slip.





The second pic.
The very first point and cross over mock-up to track plan.
Will think about adding point motors, will need 5, be too hard to bend over to switch the points.
Cheaper option is manual control switching with wire.










Lucky last the new track plan,
have marked an arrow where the pic of the mock up points be on plan.


At long last we have had rain 120mm's from later Thursday night till Friday,
more rain coming in today pretty bad tomorrow, have had all our for February in one day.

When there is a break in the rain will bring up the next module,
to pull the track off to become the new approach module .

Days aren't as hot so will make the most of it starting construction on the new layout,
aiming to run the first train on my birthday, what a great birthday present indeed.

The new bridge design is coming along,
will the drawing of the new bridge at the bottom of the cardboard  sheet.

Bridge be built this time in one full 14 foot piece and arch be in one full piece,
will join the two 7 foot sections with 19mm by 2 inch wide by 10foot long.
