I was wondering why they have american locomotives and not a british type. Also an other Baldwin and a Forney are under (re)construction.
Maybe they purchased what was available at the moment or they wanted something different to distinguish themselves from the many other heritage railroads in Wales. Don't get me wrong, you don't hear me complaining.
British steam preservers...if it's steam, they will have a go at getting it back to what it should be ...its just a case of money!! and don't forget the Lynton and Barnstable Railway in Devon had Baldwin Locos 2-4-2T running before WW2....

Numerous 4-6-0T WW1 Army surplus narrow gauge locomotives
North Yorkshire Moors Rwy has an Austerity loco I believe.....

Si...nice narrow gauge locos to see and appreciate. Around here, if it ain't expensive, has big hair, or loves the Dallas Cowboys...it ain't s#$%. There actually used to be a cool little 30" gauge quarry line just west of downtown but it went away when they built the bulky mail operation on the site. There are 2 neat 36" gauge ex-sugar cane locos at 6 Flags over Texas park but they are all "gorped up" as park locos and it costs near $30 bucks to see them!
Oh yes, I can look at 2 Shays, Porters, and assorted other narrow gauge pieces without leaving home.
Nice narrow gauge locos near Dallas -- Somewhere in TX there is a private estate that has one of the South African 2 ft. gauge Garrets in operation. It apparently is not normally publicly accessible, but might keep your eye out for possible visitation.
