I picked up this little guy the other day. Kind of a neat mechanism - motor isin the tender, "engine" picks up rail power, and the tender pushes the engine. Tiny, tiny mechanism - the tender is 1 5/16 x 9/16". I need to come up with an interesting application for it. Ideas?

Upon closer inspection and with the help of an exploded-view diagram from Bachmann, the entire mechanism is in the tender. In fact, the tender frame is the motor housing.

I found a pilot for it. I think a project is underway.

I worked on the railtruck a bit while the wife watched Survivor. The DeWitt Clinton mechanism flies around my test oval. I have it mocked up on a couple of trucks froma Proto2000 tank car kit. It will sit like this once the mechanism is mounted.

The barrels and wood piles are cast into the motor frame. I am concerned that cutting them off will affect the motor's performance, so they will be hidden inside the tank once I cut a hole in the floor.

The pilot is mounted on the front bumper, which I shortened to fit inside the back of the pilot.

Exhaust interfered with the placement of the mechanism, so it has been shortened and will be mounted under the left side running board.

I saw a photo on here of a Model A railtruck with the spare tire still mounted, so I plan to leave the spare. The location would interfere with the driver's door if it opened, so I am relocating it to the passenger's side.

This little dude will be ready for paint tomorrow night.

And yes, I hacked up a "limited edition" Matchbox Lionelville Airport fuel truck. Don't tell the O gauge guys. ;)

I have one of the original (series?), the Rocket. When I got it, years ago, checked that it ran, and put it back in it's box. It has sat on a shelf since. I wonder if there were more prototypes---

Bachmann also made a John Bull set and a Prussian set.
