" With the photo's you have come across,
needed to take a step back as my model was coming out far to neat ?
to represent the car in it's service condition "

Hi Ken

Mmm ... Well ... Possibly ...

... not as NEAT as my workbench though ... according to Doug ! :old dude:

I was looking at that whacking great big DENT in the side of "Tanque Charuto" ...

... thinking, that CAN'T have been there when they welded the 2 ends on, no way. :us:

Something pretty darn large musta given it a right real BASH ! to do that kinda damage.

The rusty & bendy 2 different ladders are kinda interesting & so is the underframe.

Plus of course handrails & this and that as well.

I seem to have diverged a bit into several more tank car builds, as well as "Tanque Charuto".

According to my analog 1:35 calibrated measuring device ... ;)

... my clapped out ol' vintage 'Tri-ang' R137 tank, seems to be down to about 12' long theses days !

Cigar ends ? :mex: Amigo ?

L:

  Hi Ken

One more "Tanque Charuto" photo, not Posted yet, which I found on Google Images.

Not as much detail as some of the others, but possibly taken at a different time in the cars history.

I'm still 'eyeing-up' my LEGO tank ends.   L:

I don't want to mess up wrapping the styrene around them.

But what the hell ... They seem like my best option ...  :P

... especially as the nearest Canadian fishing-store is a few thousand miles away !  ;)

:mex:

Even being next door I can not find any fish floats (other then round) myself, would like to see it they would do for yet another O2IT project.
IF I could even find any, would gladly send you a few.

Rix Products Roof set Kit 628-611 has a nice sized set of cyclones 1 & 1/2 IN in Dia,
perhaps a shop in England which carry NA products may have them.
Check a issue of Continental Modeller for address's, there are a few.

Rix Products web site http://www.rixproducts.com

Walthers also has a set, which I cannot locate at present, smaller in size though.

Short of finding larger ones 2 In in Dia and height, I may have to turn them on my Lathe from the solid stock I have.

Canadian Ken Eh!

I kinda sorta have this idea that just maybe one could use these plastic Easter Eggs as a starting point for a tank car.

Use some styrene to make a tube and extend the ends.

I need to make room on the work bench to try this out.

Si Michael

Take a look on Google for Plastic Wine Glass's, Martini have the cone shape.

I just remembered I had used one for the roof on Taylor Air Compressor model I built and have a few in one of my O2IT drawers.

I think I paid $0:50 apiece for them at a donation shop.  :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang:

Hi    Ken & Michael  :mex:

I dunno what you guys are doing  ??? with your ...

Easter eggs  :bang:

&

Martini glasses  :bang:

But be careful not to loose any brain cells.  ;)

Anyway ... I thought you were sorted Ken ? ... with your Canadian    fishing floats  .  .  .    L:

Me ? ... I'm gonna avoid all the  :bang: ...

... & go with the LEGO cones !   .  .  .

.  .  .  until it all goes wrong & then I'll be joining you both !  :bang: :bang: :bang:

;)

A particularly oDd shape of styrene needed for the 'wrap' ...

... so I did a couple of test-shapes with some paper.  :P

It worked out OK ... So I should be able to avoid any head injuries !  :bang:

:mex:  " VIVA TANQUE CHARUTO ! "

Si.

If you have a West Marine store nearby,
they carry "emergency" wood plugs to keep your boat from sinking when a thru-hull fitting blows out.

The plugs are tapered and could be used maybe with a plastic wrap to get the correct shape.
They come in a bag with various sizes.

Not available from Denmark, as far as I know ...  L:

... but invented in the backwoods, or should I say backwards, Mysterious Moose Mountain carshop.  :P

The bit we're interested in, is the kinda 'cube' pieces on the right, 'clamped' in the 'Brick & Band' (TM) jig.  :thumb:

Some of my NEW extra-strong !  99.9% M.E.K. sucked into the join & ...

With the NEW innovative LEGO brick, high-tensile strength-tested & ready to rock 'n' roll ...

... I could now fix BOTH ends of my "Tanque Charuto" cones, to the main tank body.

:shades:  It's LEGO Jim ... But not as we know it.
