Hi "Tanque Charuto" fans. :mex:

The amazing research possibilities of the Internet, never cease to amaze me ! :thumb:

Despite not really knowing what I was looking for, or being able to read Spanish ? ...

... EVENTUALLY after about a couple of HOURS of fairly random searching on Google ...

... I finally found a few more photos of this unique & one-off tank car !

As I say, I don't read Spanish.

But they appear to be part of a Blog by Brazilian industrial-heritage fan Herico J. Rechi.

As there are no copyright marks & I'm sure Herico would be chuffed to know us model folk are interested in the car ...

... I'm sure it's OK to Post them.

Good find Si

I am always amazed at what we can find and how fast we can find it these days. It's hard to believe that we all have more computer power at home than the original space projects had.

Hi Mack

Aint that the truth !

When I started scratchbuilding 'Westside Lumber Company' cars, back in about 1987 ...

... I basically had 2 decent, but at the same time, fairly minimally illustrated books ...

... and a few sheets of drawings by 'Russ Simpson' & 'The California Shortline Historical Society'.

Excellent & well detailed car plans as it happens, but not much more info or photos than that. L:

I positively DROOLED waiting 2 months for my next copy of the 'Narrow Gauge & Shortline Gazette' to arrive !

These days ...

... I don't recall actually buying a magazine for probably around 10 years !!

At the bench though, except for you rocket-science 3D-printing guys of course ... ;)

... it's still all about gluing photo-etched details to your fingernails ...

... sniffing 'Humbrol' & chopping up wood, metal & placky.

I must try and update my 'Sinclair' ZX80 sometime ... :old dude:

... 38 years service aint too bad ...

... & you're right, N.A.S.A. would have drooled over one of those for the 'Apollo' missions ! :brill:

You've had better luck then me finding decent photo's of the Tanque Charuto,
will need to redo the tank supports and hack the deck up somewhat, before I get my model back on track:bang::bang:.

Some how I miss placed the fire box for my Rotary so yet another catch up job to get done before the middle of April,
which is when we have our local MRly show here in Calgary.

As far as TRIANG / LEGO I have only ever used Testor's
works for me.

Hi Ken

Don't hurt your head  :bang: :bang:  !

Looks like the original 1:1 "Tanque Charuto" builders might have had some problems as well ...

... there's a whackin' great big DENT in the side !!

Photograph courtesy of Herico J. Rechi.

I see that the cars iron-ladders are DIFFERENT on each side ...

... & this side doesn't have the additional welded-on grab-irons style 'ladder', next to the regular one.

Also this side has full-length hand-railings, from the ladder to the both ends.

The other side appears to just have 2 hand-railings, along the end tappers only.

And you were worried about a bit of damage to one of your

TRIANG tank cars, doubt anyone would notice after looking at

the prototype photo's. Reminds me off years ago I built a

couple of NG boxcars, took them over to friend's to look at

he found them impressive, but pointed out in his mind the

diagonal bracing ran the wrong way. showed him a photo of

the prototype, and he figured they had reverse printed the

photo, pointed out to him one way or another the brace's

still ran the same way as my model.

Still adding to rotary, ashpan, and I found my riveter to

do the oil tank side's/top need to figure out a way to speed

up the riveting job.

Canadian Ken Eh!

Hi Ken:wave:

Riveter Eh!  :P

How about warping time & jumping ahead to when the riveting job has all been done.

You actually DID all the riveting :bang: :bang:  you just don't remember doing it. ???

Saw it one time, on the 'X-Files' :shades: ... It might help ... Eh!  ;)

Good to hear you found your riveter Ken ...

... you can loose it again soon though ...

... cos ...

THERE'S  :rah:  NO  :rah:  DAMN  :rah:  RIVETS  :rah:  ON  :rah:  TANQUE  :rah:  CHARUTO  :rah:  ! !

The Tanque Charuto car is on the side line as I am trying to finish up my rotary for mid April.
Oil tank wrapper on 3 side's will finish the wrap in AM.
Then onto the top with vent and hatch, provided I don't lose them between now and then.
Working on fitting ash pan, certain I will find the first one I did when this one is in place.
