I found these unfortunate freight cars less T/C/detail parts during a cleanup. Lionels and around S scale. So, being the rascal I am, decided to turn them into a house:

Box car will be modelling shop, kitchen, diner (the cage-like addition) and bath. Master bedroom will take the caboose and a reading area will be set in the cupola. Other amenities: deck, BBQ and pool.
Not bad for a total investment of $1 in glue...
Jose.

Hi Jose

Lookin' good ! :bg:

I got some great proto-photos of boxcar/caboose shacks & 'buildings'.

Not hard to find on the net either, as reusing old cars seems quite common.

I like the 'graft' in the 'L' shape !

' 13th Street Yard ' needs a yard-office.

What better than that surplus Tri-ang Railways wood-sided reefer I have. :brill:

Interior lights would look pretty cool !

What kind of landscape for the setting?
I know it has widely differing landscapes but California was what first came to mind.

For a number of years in the New Braunfels, TX area there was a store that used an old boxcar. It had the trucks / wheels on it, they had a set of stairs you used to get into it.

Will be set on manicured grass. Pool will have a stone border. As I will not detail the inside a realtor's sign at the front will be the excuse. BTW the white patch on the boxcar roof covers a hole that I accidentally burned with a hot soldering iron. Workbench too crowded I guess...
Also I will put a solar panel array.
Jose.

I will make several rectangular solar panels, the white patch is just to replicate the roof panel where I damaged it.
Jose.
