Some photo's of Ontraxs 2017, a Dutch railroad event. Don't know the name of the builders or the layouts anymore so I give them numbers.
The layouts are at sequence as I watch them.

That's some wonderful work! I wish that I could go there to see the show myself. Please post more photos if you have them.

I’ve been to where this show takes place (Utrecht), way back in the late 80s but I only ever heard if this show a few years ago.
I’ve been reading a lot of European and UK model train magazines and I now know that European shows are totally different than US ones. Most US travelling layouts are modular by nature, built and assembled by groups. In Europe, though, many are built by individuals. But they’re usually much smaller, too (as that’s all a person in a tiny EU/UK house can fit).
The quality of modeling is, in my opinion, way better among travelling UK/EU-built travelling layouts than you’re usually going to find in a modular display in the US.
These layouts are standouts, even among the EU ones!

Yes, some mighty fine work there. Good detail, and realistic positioning of figures---dog sniffing tree, two people talking, that sort of thing. That, along with wonderful utilization of space which they have developed over the years, probably from necessity, as Lee pointed out.

Thanks, Alwin.

Herb
