Thanks very much Peter & Todd! Seems like every step I take building this little layout is a first time learning experience. Sometimes things go right, sometimes not. Right now I'm screwing up the courage to weather a 'new' Bachmann ON30 Climax that I picked up off eBay....going nuts weathering a $30 logging car is one thing, but doing the same to a loco worth with several hundred dollars is another thing entirely. Wish me luck!
Gary,I think if you weather the Climax to the same standard as the logging car,you will be pleased with the result.Check with photos of a real Climax for weathering hot spots,ie smoke box and stack for rust and under the loco for oily spots and dirty spots. At the end of the day ,if you stuff it up ,respray it and start again....good luck and enjoy the fun of doing it ....Peter. Here's one I did a few years ago.
