This is my first serious Youtube video dedicated to model trains.  I'm currently an active member of the Livingston Model Railroad Club in Livingston, Montana and so it seemed fitting to make a video about our main HO scale layout.

This railroad has been around for over 20 years and is now entering into it's third generation of club members continuing the tradition of the founding members back in the early 1990's. A new addition to the railroad, Gardiner, was added last year in time for the April, 2016 show.  This is featured toward the end of the film.

The video is 13 minutes long, but should give people a good idea of what our railroad looks like, so please sit back and enjoy the video.

Additionally, any feedback would be amazing.  Hopefully I can use this video as a benchmark to improve my video making skills for future layouts.

Thanks for watching!

James

An excellent video of the club, layout and I would say the club has done a great job on the building and back drops for it.

That's a great club layout, nice work. There's a "club" here in the Dallas area which has been around for over 30 years and they still have very little scenery but with a 5 track main line (so everybody can run their toys), there isn't much room for realism!
I enjoyed seeing something like the Livingston club, good show.

Thanks Ken and Woodie!

The backdrops are amazing, and use both paint and photos to blend together something quite unique.  As you can see, there's still a few spots where some backdrops, even removable ones, could still be placed to enhance the look.  But those are added at the clubs discretion (and budget) so probably not happening yet.

The track plan consists of two loops, on which up to about 7 trains can be placed.  We've got enough sidings that we can even run opposite directions on the mainline, just like they do over Bozeman Pass!

The small loop stays in the main room, running over the peak of the pass, through Livingston, and "Logan" (not actually the name for that area, but for the purposes of the video, it fit well).

The big loop runs through the same areas as the small loop, but also has branches into the East Subdivision (Bozeman, in this video) and the Gardiner Loop.  Both of those branches can be blocked off to do switching, maintenance, or run-bys for visitors.

While this HO scale layout is impressive, it's not the only one in the basement.  It has to share space with a large O scale layout that was built and donated be a club member who passed away back in 2010.  And a new layout for 2017 is a 3x8 N scale layout.  At some point I'd like to make a video dedicated to each of those as well, maybe even do a walk through.

Got another video up from the club layout.  This one focuses on the Yellowstone Park Loop.
