I still have my original 'Egger-Bahn' set in H0e(9mm ga.) - a 0-4-0T plus three tips - that runs round 6" curves on the original track and doesn't look ridiculous at all. Jack Work once made a small layout (I think it was less than 4x8 ) in H0n3 with 9" curves and maximum car length of 25'. Two stations divided by a center backdrop provided lots of operating interest.

Thanks for posting the link to that 2x6 show layout Helmut.

One note of caution though, my calc's suggest this little over/under layout is pushing 4%+ grades...and you can tell the little Porter is struggling up the incline on the curve where resistance increases. Be sure to test anything approaching 4+% before committing otherwise you could be going back at your layout with a hammer/knife/saw at the most inopportune time!
