PhotoBucket.Com has this as their mission statement on their Twitter page :-

" Your photos are our number one priority.

It's our mission to help you share, store, edit and enjoy them — all in one place."

Oh by the way, that'll be $400 Dollars a year for life please !

Imgur.com ?

Mmm...

I don't wanna spoil the party ...

... but I read this earlier, on one of the user rants about Photobucket :-

" Imgur terms of service also prohibit third party hosting. "

" Also, don't use Imgur to host image libraries you link to from elsewhere, content for your website, advertising, avatars, or anything else that turns us into your content delivery network.
If you do – and we will be the judge – or if you do anything illegal, in addition to any other legal rights we may have, we will ban you along with the site you're hotlinking from, delete all your images, report you to the authorities if necessary, and prevent you from viewing any images hosted on Imgur.com
We mean it."

I have not checked the fine-print T&Cs at Imgur.com

But it would not now surprise me, if this is true.

They may follow suit with Photobucket.

Or they may not wish commercial suicide on themselves.

But BEWARE ... They MAY be the next !

My 'personal' feeling is, I wouldn't use Imgur.com, even if they PAID ME !

Yet another VERY ANGRY  PhotoBucket.Com user :-

" My photobucket account was used for creating props in a virtual 3d world ...
and now every single image/prop in my previously FREE user account is a black sign.
I cannot believe they cannot be sued for taking images of props legally created and in effect, "holding them hostage" for $399 a year ...
Something needs to be done and be done now ... "

Photobucket.com will probably go the way of the dinosaurs

I don't think their company will survive this swindle

Moving the goalposts & screwing millions of existing users for cash is insane

Some comments from Photobucket.com 'happy' customers

I had no choice but to pay your $400 extortion to protect my business.
Now I have a year to find another solution and never, ever, ever even think of working with you again.
But I do thank you for giving me a new hobby: trashing you online at every opportunity.
You got my $400, but will never see another penny.
I sincerely hope you crash and burn in a most spectacular way.
I'm also on the lookout for the invevitable class-action suits, which I will join with gusto.

I am extremely disappointed in your most recent change to start charging to use your photo services to link to forums.
You have lost me as a user and will be taking photos to a different hosting company.
I imagine you guys will be going under soon with a fee of $400 a year.

I'll be glad to watch photobucket go out of business after screwing their customers.

I predict that on a future episode of "Jeopardy!", the answer will be
"This online photo-hosting company succumbed to corporate greed, which caused so many users to flee,
that it crashed, burned, and became an online laughing stock of how not to run a company."

The thing about the terrible, terrible interface I've experienced for the last 18 months or so is that I'm *extremely* not inclined to sign up for monthly service.
I'm not paying for a service I basically can't use half the time.
I'd already drastically reduced how often I chose Photobucket.
But finding out that ten years' worth of photos in my forum and blog posts have been "locked" until I upgrade to a more expensive plan is... bad faith.
You need an option to allow us to pay for former uploads' third-party hosting, because I won't be going forward with Photobucket, and right now you're holding my archives hostage.

I can’t tell if it’s intentionally them avoiding the issue,
or if they are truly that stupid that they don’t understand the hate they are getting,
but Photobucket is seriously not actually saying anything on what people are giving them hell for.

At one point in time, PhotoBucket wasn't half bad.
Now, they are by far the WORST image sharing website out there.
They are so riddled with Ad's, popups, and malware that the site is unusable.
Everything is incredibly slow and glitches and errors are constant.
This site is a perfect example of "how to destroy your business and frustrate all of your customers".
Even the paid version which advertises "less ad's" is terrible.
Your photos will disappear, their organizing tabs dont work right, etc, etc, etc...
The entire site is just total garbage now...

They have changed their pictures so advertisements must now all load fully before any of the actual page content loads.
They have also drastically increased the amount of advertisements that are on each page, and plastered links of "buy premium to remove ads" and "pay $4.99 a month for no ads and so your content loads faster" on every page.
some times you get stuck waiting for your pictures to load for 2-3 minutes because their ads wont load.
This reminds me greatly of he old "pay me for protection" scam that gangs ran in movies.
Avoid this service at all costs.

After not having used Photobucket for a while I have tried recently to upload a photo and add a border....
something I could do on an app in my phone in 2 mins.....
20 mins later and I am still waiting on the editor loading.
I mean... it was always a bit slow and full of ad's but now it is just horrendous.
Save yourself the hassle and don't bother!

I think the hamster powering the Photobucket server is dead.
The poor thing has been ill for a long time, ever since it lost three of its legs in that horrific accident.
It carried on, tried to keep the servers going, but at last, finally... dead.
The hamster is deceased, shuffled off its mortal coil, popped its clogs, left this mortal realm, is no more.
It's a matter of time before the wheel winds down to a complete stop but will anyone notice?
Time to upgrade to a clockwork mouse perhaps, Photobucket.
I'm sick to death of wasting three quarters of an hour to upload photos for it to lose them and I have to upload them all over again.
Come on Photobucket, you've had my money, I'd like a little bit more wiggle in the hamster please.

ZERO STARS!!!! They sent me one very poor quality canvas and two never arrived.
The website states that they offer 100% Satisfaction.
NO THEY DO NOT! Photobucket DOES NOT issue refunds.
They are misleading and WILL NOT help you.
I cannot express how much you need to walk away from this company!!

Ordered my prints over a month ago.
Site says 1-5 days making, then 1-5 days shipping.
Over a month later, and it's still listed as "in production"
I have emailed their customer service, and first reply said they would check in with the manufacturers and get back to me.
A week later and nothing, and no replies to my follow up emails.

Stay away from this company!
Their customer service is a joke.
The only way of contacting them is an email and it takes them ages to get back to you.
When you finally hear from them, there is unfortunately nothing they can do for you to resolve the issue.
No phone number to call.
Seriously?
Very unprofessional company!

I would like to put a big fat ZERO STAR review FOR THIS COMPANY.
I have used other online ordering and never had issues, not to mention I have a lot of years in photofinishing, plus BFA in photo.
These bas***ds did me wrong and they won't re-do or refund.
I WILL NEVER SUPPORT THIS COMPANY & I RECOMMEND YOU DON'T EITHER!!

More from the W.W.W on the PhotoBucket.Com terror campaign :-

:f:

It doesn’t take much to make the internet angry these days but even so, this latest stunt from Photobucket takes some beating.

At first, some people thought it was a scam. There are plenty of posts saying that they thought Photobucket had been hacked but these swiftly turned to anger when they realised that it was real.

The issue; Photobucket have decided that it’s a great idea to stop people from using their platform for sharing photos on other websites unless you pay them $399 a year.

As many angry people have pointed out, the service has been glitchy and inconsistent for some time. As somewhere to store your photos it’s been OK but for sharing it has been prone to issues. And the solution they have come up with of charging everyone for doing something that has previously always been free has not gone down well.

The change has meant that bulletin boards and auction sites across the internet are a train wreck this morning, along with people’s personal blogs and websites. And to date, Photobucket is doing nothing about it. They appear to be hunkering down and hoping they can weather the storm.

The problem they face is not simply that disgruntled customers may go elsewhere but that in doing so they will shout as loudly as they can about how badly they have been treated. Forget that many of these people, in fact, many of the 166 who have commented so far today on their Facebook page, probably have a free account, the fact is that they are customers.

And Photobucket is about to find out that when you upset customers en masse then no amount of backtracking will protect your brand. There is only one way this can end well and it involves them reconsidering this bizarre move. Every other way sees Photobucket come to a sad and sticky end.
