Hi my name is Daniel and I'm from Montreal. I'm not completely new to model railroading it was my hobby 35 years ago. I stopped because life happens, family, job& careers and different obligations of the time.  I modeled  in HO and was fascinated by old logging and mining railroad of the late 1800 too early 1900 era. So Shay, Hislers, Climax were my favorites.
So now that I just retired I'm planning to get back into it. Same era but different gage I would like to go HOn30, just for the challenge. I was into hand laid tracks and custom-made turnouts, that was 35 years ago. Now I want to learn about all the new stuff and techniques were to get online new materials.
And most importantly I want to make new friends. An important thing to know about me is that I'm not a purist I don't care if the Boxcar isn't the proper shade or have appropriate number of rivets in the corner. If I built it and like it then it's fine. To me this is a hobby to have fun and enjoy. So I hope to get to know has many of you as I can.

Hi Daniel

WELCOME onboard the Freerails EXPRESS !

You won't find many rivet-counters around these here parts. ;)

I've tried counting a few now & then ...

... but my eyesight aint what it used to be !

I just count boxcars now, they are easier to keep tally with. :bg:

Isn't it just annoying that 'life' gets in the way of playing trains. :f:

Oh well ... I'm playing trains as much as I can ...

... the hell with the rest of it ! ;)

Nice to see you here on Freerails Daniel.

:moose:

Si.

BEWARE of the MOOSES ! :moose:

Howdy Daniel, welcome to Freerails. I know that you will like being here, we have the lowest number of pit nickers on the net!

Woodie

Rivets? We don't need no stinkin' rivets!

Welcome Daniel to this forum, sounds like you are a man with the same thoughts and ideas as me.If it looks good and runs well ,that's good.I'm not a rivet counter  and don't care about precise colours, heights, widths and lengths.I hope you enjoy your modelling as I do,there is plenty of help and ideas around her......cheers Peter.

Welcome Daniel to the forum, I also have no time for counting NBW & Rivets, had enough of that when I worked.
Current project is a 40Ft STG boxcar, re trucked for use on a 3Ft line, and I am modelling a shortened 30Ft version for use on my 2Ft 6In Railway.
Having to much fun to count rivets!

Hey.... I dint expect such a warm welcome. Thank you for your kind words. I will be posting some stuff, but presently I'm in the acquiring of tools. Dremel, the indispensable modeling ruler, exacto knife, thin square, rail cutters. Piles of the stuff in the tool department. Next will be scaled lumber, and some rolling stock. If you guess that I was a scratch builder and kit basher you guessed right.
