Thanks again for the suggestions - we went off to see some flowers and game (lion and cheetah, 2 rhino's and some large buck) - and I must get my grey matter together again.

AND yay the batteries arrived this morning - will lay some track next week and start testing.

George

Found this on FB O guage group. Interesting that the formula's result was 146mm.
Kevin Gill Hi George the wheelbase is 147mm. Hope this is of some help.

Ok finally laid some temporary track for the grandson and to test my experiment.

The first few runs showed no stress on the minimum wheelbase of 123mm.

But many derailments during the day due to bad tracking.

Grandson not impressed:). Caught this shot as he's waving the remote around like a six gun

I've now made the decision to make a permanent track for our lounge only.

2 half circles coupled by 2 non-straight(?) sections on a good wooden base.

The wagons I'am going to build need no longer have wheelbases more than 123mm now that I see the 2S batteries fit into the caboose YAY:rah:

and the link and pin really works well just need to get the lengths right - all in good time

It takes the kink at full speed no derailing.

Apologies for the sinkers and temp wiring.

Hi George

I think Jr. looks like he's having a blast ! :thumb:

A def. R.C. nut in the making there !! :bg:

The track sounds like a cool move.

I drew out these a while back, to test simple circle layout ideas.

Never know ... might help. L:

:)

Shucks are u on speed dial:glad:

Thks Si - the very first one to start with for indoors and then we'll start the garden layout with one of the others later - much later.

Yes he is talking about his red loco at home all the time.

Interesting that there is the Santa Fe (Helmut helped) and 2 Lima passenger coach engines (named what?) but he has latched onto the Lionel Rock Island loco like he's Linus blanket - just adorable.

Have started the permanent woodwork and will show soon.
