Si,

Nothing has changed on other forums using the same software on my computer. Have anit-virus running constantly and updates are on as they come from the vendor. The only thing that changed is the posting on this forum and not on the other four forums I'm on. That's why I suspect Freerails software. I'll see if there is anything on my end.

Funny thing. When I use the "Quick Reply" way to post it seems to work OK.

Hi Bernd

I'm sure that what you say is true, regarding other websites you use.

The specific way in which other Sites operate ...

... may well not be affected by a specific browser fault.

Browsers regularly apply users preferences to single Sites only.

If the users preferences have been corrupted by eg. virus or mallware chaos ...

... it is easily possible they may only influence a single aspect, or certain aspects of operation only.

For example ...

... I'm guessing whilst Herb had the mystery problem with his Gallery ...

... He was probably still able to order his Wallace & Gromit DVDs on Amazon.

Likewise, the browser fault I had a few years back ...

... only affected one particular aspect of my web use.

Can't recall exactly what, but it was a baffling situation.

If there was a 'real' problem with the Freerails Forum software ...

... I would expect a flood of such observations.

However, with well over 1000 Posts last month, all of which I've read ...

... containing quotes, photos, labeled links & text etc. etc. ...

... I haven't seen anything that looks even remotely untoward ...

... essentially we have a 0.1% complaint rate.

In absolutely EVERY instance of difficulties using the Forum that have been previously investigated ...

... I'm not aware of a single instance which was to do with a Forum software problem.

Other than a few 'man made errors' 18 months ago ...

... there has simply NEVER been any actual evidence, that reported problems have ever been anything ...

... other than problems with users browsers, settings, operating systems or updates etc.

Hi Bernd

Just another thought.

Try emptying your 'browser-cache'.

It might do something, it might not.

Nothing to be lost doing it anyhow.

It just fills up again.

Si, the big "G" still doesn't work for me to post photos from the gallery but I defeated that problem my own way. I just need 2 FR's on at the same time, copying the photo from the gallery on one and pasting on the post on the other. No particular problem, just the normal computer BS.

Hi Guys

Just to be clear on this.

The 'G' Button is operating exactly as it should do.

What is NOT operating correctly, is Woodies 'Windows-10'.

Initially 'Windows-10' was working fine when using the 'G' Button.

But a 'Windows-10' update of 01/01/2017 has been a problem regarding this.

This specific problem with 'Windows-10' & how to fix it, has been clearly described here :-

'WINDOWS-10' USERS and THE FREERAILS MEMBERS GALLERY

I run Microsoft Security Essentials once a week to check for viruses and CCleaner Professional to clean out the cache everyday. I'm 100% positive I don't have a virus or adware or spy software on my computer. I'm thinking there isn't something right with "quote post" or "reply"  module of the forum software. Everything else in the forum works OK for me, it just the reply and quote parts that don't seem to work for me.

Bernd,

What browser are you using?  Websites are written using CSS or html code, which is interpreted differently by different web browsers.  For instance, I cannot get any space between paragraphs while posting on this forum using Microsoft Edge.  I just figured it out a few weeks ago, so I downloaded Firefox (used to use Chrome, but it's too annoying for my tastes) and everything that I use works fine.

The problem isn't with the website's programming, per se, but rather how that code is read by web browsers.  That's the only downside to the Internet, there is no standard.
