@Michael
If my memory serves me right, is this on Mallorca? It was a terminus (Arta?) nested into the side of a hill and surrounded by high walls. When I visited (20+ yrs. ago) the 3' gauge rails were still in place, but I didn't take any photos (silly, but..)

Hello Helmut,

No, not Mallorca. That 3' system (Palma-Soller) is refurbed, new tram traction motors. It was "Rescued" just about in time when they realised it could be a tourist attraction. I rode those rails in about 1973 when it was very characterful if unreliable and the Palma terminal looked like a Spanish/Bolivian spaghetti Western scene - now much 'sanitised' & semi modernised. If that is the price of rescue then so be it - at least the original trams are still in use.

My photo is of my beloved (now almost ex-) FdC (Ferrovie della Calabria) - way down south in the Italian "toe", where the train brakemen/"security guards"  often had a shotgun in their lookout shelters. Sadly I've not been down there in the last few years, I'm not sure how much is still running.

Au revoir Frau Merkel or late reprieve ??      Viva la Independenza Anglicana !!!!

Regards,    Michael
