Howdy guys...I have been to "To-hell-you-ride" several times, but it was many years ago. The town used to be a sleepy, almost ghost town with a wonderful atmosphere. The last time I was there, the wannabees, rock stars, wealthy folks seemed to run the place (similarly like what happened to Aspen and others) and the "old timers" were forced to move away.
As Keith and others can tell you, little places like Blackhawk & Central City USED to be neat places but the greed of gamblers and society types have made these places depressing to some of us.
Change is good...or so they tell you!

At least the population rose from ~500 to 2500 and there's income for those who dwell there. A picturesque place giving way to decay may be neat to behold, but resurrection is always a better way.( I admit that I too prefer to look at pictures showing the D&RGW rails running there and all the mines and mills in operation )
Oh yes, I have to correct myself: It was the RGS until abandonment in 1952 and I found a citation-
>> Telluride today is one of Colorado's premier ski resorts, and has been discovered by the beautiful people from the entertainment industry. High priced homes abound in the area, and the downtown has become totally yuppified. But it still has the mountains, the falls and the jeep trails. If you're in the area, stop for a beer at the depot and enjoy the views. Catch the RGS Goose on display. And like the union miners in 1904, get out of town quick.<<
