It looks like the San Juan Car Company is up for sale now. It figures, now that I have just switched over to their couplers.

Luckily, I just got an order yesterday so I am good for a long time.

GOOD GRIEF, all these companies in the hobby are for sale right now.
I'm sure it's a coincidence but it sure is odd timing.

All those companies started roughly at the same time, so the owners are retiring at the same time also.
Jose (getting old ALSO).

Yep, sorry to hear about SJ. Many "mom & pop" enterprises are going down. For that rare individual who can actually have a hobby and a hobby-related business, I stand in awe. Long ago I learned that if I made my hobby into a business, my hobby ceases to be a hobby...it just becomes WORK! Just an old dude's observation.

I totally agree with you Woodie. Over the years I turned two hobbies into businesses, and yes, they both became work and I don't do either of them anymore.

Everyone gets to retire and I would say there will be more small businesses go in the near future.
