Hi,

My tiny HO four wheel Fleischmann loco uses a Roco 10882PluX16 decoder.
But like any little critter, it stalls due to the lack of heft and pick-ups.
The local DCC guru declared that it is impossible to add a stay-alive as each decoder needs a dedicated stay-alive.

This maybe BS or not.
I need help and advice because I know next to nowt about the PluX16 system except that it is expandable,
therefore is there a possibility that another decoder (which has the facility to fit a stay-alive) is available?

Or simply what options are available?

The decoder is a bit dated and no longer in production.

But Pin6 is Cap+ and Pin5 is GND.
It is rather improbable that ROCO did not implement the corresponding connections.
You can check this by measuring the voltage between Pins 6&5 when the loco is on live DCC track - it should read some 15..18VDC.

If so, you can connect any stay-alive unit that is able to handle that voltage.

P.S. The instruction manual is here.
You may need it after the caps are built in, to adjust CV29.

Hi Helmut,

The Roco 10822 is, in reality, the Zimo MX630-16.
The cab of the Fleischmann DVI can take a small capacitor pack, thankfully someone has offered to modify and test the loco.

It is ironic that the tiny loco runs perfectly on the 5x3m test track but continuous running is easy,
the problem is slowly shuffling hither n'dither on Pottendorf, across numerous turnouts albeit with live frogs.
