Hi All,

Found this old shed in Redlands California.

This is kinda a follow-up to oztrainz's Old Aussie Shed:

http://www.freerails.com/view_topic.php?id=7872&forum_id=19&highlight=corrugated

Corrugated roofing with wood sides.

Not sure how old it is.

Didn't do exact measurements, but it paced out to about 18' x 30'.

Nice building.

Looks like a blacksmith shop.

Hi Michael

I found myself a wandering on Freerails ...  :old dude:

... lookin' for that elusive nugget of modeling inspiration !  L:

&

Came across your wonderful Californian 'shed' prototype again.  :thumb:

The variation & patchwork of colouring on the sides, really is something.

Has it provided you weathering inspiration for your 1:35n2 structures ?  ???

It maybe once had, now absent, signs here & there on it.

I quite like it 'signless', with the resulting 'patches'.  :)

GREAT proto-photos !

Redlands in its early days was very big into the citrus industry.
Of course that's all gone due to "urban sprawl".
There is the California Citrus State Historic Park in nearby Riverside.

Never was able to find out much information about the building.
I'm guessing maybe late 1800s or early 1900s.

As Steve pointed out, with the chimney,
it was probably some kind of workshop or maybe blacksmith?

Looks like there might have been some lettering on the front of the building,
but that has long faded away.

I just like the weathered wood siding and rusted roofing.
The photos provide a quick reference when I'm painting and weathering a building.

It's really a very simple structure.
Maybe I'll get around to building a model of it one day.
