Hi folks,

I recently joined the site and wanted to say “hello”.

I’m building a small 7mm scale layout, nothing grand, a rather tired and careworn narrow garage line running to an insignificant harbour on a river estuary.

There’s still plenty to do...

I’ll be starting a thread on the ‘Yaffle Hill Railway’ very soon, please drop in, say ‘Hi’ and tell me what you think.

All the best
Allen

Looks great so far.

I'll be looking forward to seeing your progression!

I've read enough Brit hobby magazines to now know that 7MM for UK readers means O scale (at 1/43) for us colonials.

Good to see another NGRM fugitive Allen.

Your layout should fit in very nicely with what else is on here.

A harbour layout!

Marvelous!

I'm going to get some inspiration from it for Toeffelholm.

Thanks Si.

The boat was made by my father, many moons ago now.
Its not really big enough to pass muster in 7mm scale and too modern for the period I’m trying for.
So I’ve decided I’ll remodel the deck structures into something more appropriate eg the steamer Foy unloading coal at Pentewan harbour around 1905 - end of post
(the Pentewan Rly is an obvious influence).

This would still leave a problem with the hull, the bow is the wrong shape, raked in whereas it would have been vertical at this time.
I can either make a cosmetic change which would probably take away the models ability to sail, leave as is or do a proper job
(not my favourite option, requiring too much labour, time and probably more skill than I have).

If there are any boat modellers on the site any advice is welcome.
