Any of you who have googled track plan sites will certainly be sad to hear that Thor Sheil who ran the Thor Trains site passed away today.

http://www.thortrains.net/

He was also into collecting toy army men which is how I got to know him.

I was doing some research on early war gaming miniatures, only to find out he was also the Thor Trains guy.

I only knew him from chatting online, but I am very touched by his loss.

He was a very nice man and a pleasure to chat with.

I had not seen Thors Site before.

So thanks for the introduction !

Having just a quick look ... There is TOO MUCH nice stuff here, to even begin to describe it.

I thought that borrowing a couple of pix from the Sites main-index Page was a fitting tribute.

Much as I like quirky narrow gauge scratch-building ... The nostalgia of 'The Train Set' is a thought never far from my mind.  :P

As a BIG ! fan of the vintage 'Tri-ang' Transcontinental range of North American trains, these old-school 'Lionel' images are my cuppa coffee !  :java:

The 'typical' barn, wind-pump & distant mountains, as well as the train, are a kinda 'timeless' illustration of that certain 'something.  :old dude:

I'm sure I could get lost in Thors Site for DAYS !

Not everyones cuppa char of course.  :f:

But just looking very briefly at some of the quite simple O27 trackplans, has given me fresh ideas for my own 1:35n2 scribblings !  :)

They have a simplicity, which in the complex 'microchip-age' is very beautiful, to me at least.

I may just have to 'borrow' a few to Post, I'm sure he wouldn't mind.

A dedicated 'Train Fan' for sure !  :thumb:
