Stan, no I haven't built one but I imagine that (in my scale) a 1:35 CASE tractor kit and a small power unit might do the job.
Or forget the power and make it a "project" at the machine shop.
Is that kit able to be powered?
Very cool machine.

Woodie

The Fordson's distributor now concentrates on the standard modelling scales:

My in-progress 0n30 layout will have a short point-to-point section in the mountains,
that will be vaguely mining/logging.

I need to decide what gauge it should be.

Something more narrow than 0n30 would be justified and look appropriate,
but I'm not familiar enough with the various options yet.

I see some 0n18 stuff that looks interesting.

I like look of this Fordson conversion:

https://www.ebay.com/p/On30-or-On3-Wiseman-Model-Services-M-105-Fordson-Powered-Critter-Locomotive-Kit/722114503

and wondering if any of you have built one of these,
either as-is, or narrowed it for a smaller gauge?

Any insights/comments are more than welcome!

Stan

Hi Stan

I 'merged' your previous 'Critter Thread' & the new one together.  L:

Seemed like an OK idea.  :)

I like your idea of having a 2nd smaller line on the new layout.  :thumb:

Especially good for 'train watching' if it's a loop ...

... whilst you operate the 'mainline'.

The Fordson critter looks like seriously  C   L  funky junkque to me !  :pimp:

I'm a sucker for an ol' railtractor though ... :mex:

... as are a few other folk around here too.

So show us some rusty railtractors & crispy critters ...  :P
... Stan needs some advice, for some right on rust, to run on his new line !  :old dude:

:moose:

Hi Stan

No problem !  :thumb:

We do 'aim' to please ... It's just the eyesight that 'misses' sometimes !

I guess the first thing to do, is to get/decide on an ACE lil' ol' mechanism for the critter ...

... then build around a guaranteed WINNER in the runnin' dept.  L:

No idea what 'Wiseman' had in mind for a mech.  ?  ???

:pimp:

I ordered up a Kato 11-103,
saw lots of good comments on how well it runs.

Wiseman says the Fordson fits a Tenshodo W-31,
but they're harder to find and people say they don't run as well.

We'll see.

I'll go to town and get information keemosabi.

Stay tuned.
