Circuitron stuff configured to provide automatic operation in both CW and CCW directions.

Turnouts are thrown so that all the trackage is used.

The side of the layout with the turntable is all manual ground throws.

No Sir - all ICs soldered from underneath!

I used to adhere to this approach until the late 60's ( agewise ), too.

But with the advent of the Arduino and Ras.Pi in the 70's ( again agewise ), I changed my point of view.

There's even an LM3900 Norton-Amplifier in the left-hand corner.

Wonder how many of today's kids understand its function principle?
