Hi,

It is good to be back.

Survived two heart attacks and a triple bypass,
but I can no longer exhibit the main layout.

So, it is a micro in a blanket box to keep me occupied.

The available footprint is 72 long x 27 high x 27 deep or 28" x 10.5" x 10.5"

I am inspired by a shortline that used to serve local industries and docksides:-

There are photos and maps to give you an impression of the system,
but it is a first for me,
never have I attempted anything in such a small space,
so I intend to replicate just a tiny corner.

First problem, for which I need advice, should I add an additional foamboard layer.
to serve as both a trackbed and to hide the necessary wiring and turnout gubbins?

I cannot think of any other solution,
except to use ultra simple rod+SPDT switch to operate the turnouts.

Build the track on the foamboard outside the APA box and install once tested/painted etc.

There is no intention to install DCC, it is one loco and absolutely no sound,
plus the extra gubbins is a serious pain to lug around.

Looks like a most interesting subject to model.

Lots of different ideas presented in your blog.

Understand the age/eye sight concerns,
getting there myself.

:)
