As an experiment,
I've worked up a Walking Man (machine) to see if it can be practically done.

I considered moving chains or belts as the cyclist uses,
but it becomes very much more complicated when you have two feet stopping and starting!

This therefore has a self contained machine or tractor underneath,
which provides the correct forward motion, and moves the feet.

This particular model is configured to 1:43,
but it is just as say to configure it to (say) 4mm scale.

Your work is excellent,

I love the way the coat flexes when he walks.

One thing I don't get is how is he going to travel,

through a slot on his walking path?

Thank you!

Yes, by necessity there is a slot of about 5mm, which reduces his usefulness.
I'm looking at ways of disguising it, such as grass etc.....

However, this is a concept model to move things forward and provoke ideas,
rather than the full answer!

Get him a long gown, take off the cap,

and submerge the vehicle in opaque blue water....
