The NMRA Standard says a max of 22 volts. The problem is many manufactures decide to do what they want so they design their equipment for what ever they want.

There are US made decoders that will withstand the full 22 volts but you have to look at the information on the decoders on the manufactures web site.

Most, but not all, controllers and boosters can be adjusted to lower voltages. It should be covered in the instruction book.

What scale are you working with?
