|I model Seaboard Air Line (HO, O scale 3-rail/2-rail, and now "O" 2-rail BPRC) and am always amazed at how SAL items are treated (ACL too).
When I was in HO there was very little offered in SAL/ACL paint. I stopped modeling for a few years and when I got back into it I was bitten by the O scale bug (saw a MTH SAL RS3 and had to have it). As I began acquiring O scale stuff for SAL at train shows I noticed an increase in HO on the vendors tables, just my luck
I've been able to buy several accurate items for SAL in O scale, but my modified or scratchbuilt items equal or exceed them.
I was fortunate enough to receive some samples of Lionel's command control system (CAB1-L and Base1-L) to test and they even sent me a GP9 to test and keep. I already had an Atlas GP9 and was going to sell the Lionel model (it was in Wabash colors) until I found that SAL owned a single GP9 (1912) painted in the "Lime Green" paint.
I ended up repainting it:
