Yep, a layout with too much track simply isn't my taste. I always thought the Piano Line was the more "generous" design anyway.

I do plan to go all out with detail, but like you, I have a limited budget. I already spent April's allowance on N scale freight cars and a new locomotive. So now I have to save for a couple months and get track, static grass, styrene, a couple more Woodland Scenics Learning kits (great for small layouts, BTW) and, of course, all the details I can muster. For right now though, my main focus will e getting track, roadbed, and wiring the layout so I have something to run.

Code 55 and code 40 track ought to do the trick.
