Great information and pictures. This will come in handy when I get started with the installation of a sound decoder in my Side Rod loco. Hopefully I will start on it soon.

Hi Rod
I don't know if you respond my question since it has been almost 3 years ago.
I am planning to install sound decoder and speaker on Bachmann On30 Gas Mechanical DCC equipped. But no one seems to advice me how. I have lots of questions to ask.
1. There is dummy plug and a small sheet of paper. What purpose of this plug and how this plug do this model?
2. I have purchased Tsumami decoder 827010, speaker 810112. Do I have to remove PCB unit and directly connect the decoder?
3. Where can I get the electric diagram to show how to connect a resister or other parts?
4. Where can we get the speaker housing and front grill and how to cut from the body shell so cleanly? Thank you very much.

Sorry no I am not responding to your earlier request for information.

I think if you look at the images and the written description it might be a little more explanatory. The "Plug" is the decoder and the "Sheet of paper"is an additional heat sink.

Sorry no wiring diagram available. The speaker has no baffle nor enclosure it just sits up vertically behind the radiator area. You could fit one if you wanted to.

The "Grill" I fit is from Backwoods Miniatures from The UK. It is a brass etching that comes with the 0-4-0 dress up kit sold by them.

Trust this helps.

Rod.

Thank you very much for information.
However, I still don't get it about the sheet of paper that explaining how to set the dummy plug. Why do we need this for this model? When do we use it? Can I use a 8 pin plug and PCB when I install sound decoder?

Yes you could use the 8 pin connector if you have enough room for it to fit inside under the hood.

Thanks Rad,
If we use 8 pin plug, only the sound decoder is connected to PCB? How to connect line from the sound decoder with 8 pin plug without wiring diagram. Sorry for lots of question. You are the only hope.

Thank you Rod,
I found the wiring diagram of PCB when I google search NWRA 8 pin plug. I believe if I use 8 pin male plug oonnecting with sound decoder, it should work.
