A little problem occurred while installing a new decoder that maybe one of you gurus could help me with.
The command station is a Digitrax Zephyr xtra and the decoder is a Tsunami 1000. I programmed the decoder with Decoder Pro and it seemed to accept all changes. When it came time to test run the locomotive, it ran fine a couple times up and down the test track and then it happened. I put it in reverse .....nothing happened. The Zephyr blinked a couple of times and then read "c5". The dcs then turned off. I looked in the manual and couldn't find a "c5" explanation. I'm more attuned to building models than playing with electronics, so what gives with this??
It is difficult to program a Soundtrax decoder without a booster. They draw more current than a Digitrax system can handle.
Check out Tony's Trains web site, they might be able to assist also.
OK, found the problem! I set CV* to * (stupid smart phone isn't accepting the number eight) and that didn't work. So, I started checking components, like I know what I'm doing. I got down to the decoder and there it was. Something is not right with it and it looks like it's going back for repair. It seems that The problem is always in the last place I look. Did I mention that I'm no wizkid at electronics? Thanks for the suggestions, they did get me thinking.
