Click on 'MENU' in the top bar of the 'Home Page',

right below the funky 'Freerails Logo' locomotive picture !

In the drop-down 'MENU' that appears,

click on 'MY ACCOUNT'

You will then get a new Page, with a list of options on the left-side.

Click on 'AVATAR'

The 'Avatar Page' that then appears, has full instructions on it.

Basically very similar to uploading attachments,

but the photo has to be a small 'Avatar size'.

Herb

Hi Avatar fanciers !  [whack]

It was commented on, by several Members, this week ...

... that when CHANGING their 'Avatar', using the Avatar-Page in 'My Account' ...

... the NEW 'Avatar', once CHANGED, didn't seem to appear in their Posts.  L:

Well ... as usual, this 'problem' is nothing to do with anything at Freerails ...  :P

... but as usual, is an issue or 'problem' with the Members home-computer etc.

The reason the NEW 'Avatar' may seem not to appear, even if it conforms to the requirements ...  ???

... is that your home-computer has the OLD 'Avatar' CACHED by your Web Browser.

In theory this CACHING can help Web Pages load more quickly, as it stores existing data ...

... so that stored data doesn't have to be downloaded again from a Web Sites server.

All sorts of stuff can be CACHED by your Web Browser & you will not normally notice.  :us:

Most Web Browsers have an option button somewhere, called 'EMPTY CACHE'.

It simply dumps the contents, as of then & will start filling up again, with up to date stuff.

I hope that might explain the 'Mystery Of The Phantom Avatar' !  :w:

:brill:

Hi Folks

Someone asked me the question

Why don't more Freerails Members have AVATARS ?

I don't know why ?

How am I supposed to know that ?

Psychic powers perhaps ? ? ?

Anyway it is easy to have your own personal AVATAR

All the info. on how to do it is here & on the AVATAR tab

AVATARS can be cool train photos they told me to say

Avoid photos of grumpy people on their cellphone !

:f:
