I started a new tankcar project but I have my doubts.
I planned to make my own wood beam trucks, already started one, but they are more work then I expected.
Also not sure how well they will run when finished.
Anyone has experience with making their own trucks?
Is it an "Yes you can do it" or "better not..."?
Also the height of the tankcar worries me a bit.
Maybe I can lower it a bit by filing away some parts of the frame.
But will it look acceptable?
So, a lot of doubts.
Here are some photo's with my other (unfinished) tankcars.
A little progress on the new tankcar. The construction of the trucks is finaly done.
The first has the metal parts painted grey.
The tankcar frame is now lower on the trucks.
I was also able to lower the tank in the frame a bit.
So all parts are a bit lower now and come out better with the other cars.
Here are some photo's.
I ordered some longer screws to connect the trucks to the frame.
It is waiting for that before I can continue with details to the car.
The tank needs some work to.
I will try to wrap it in aluminium foil with the rivets pressed in.
I want to use the curio for that.
Not sure how that's gonna work out.
The tankcar is finished.
I also painted one of my previous build tankcars.
The tank was wrapped with aluminium foil which I embossed with the Curio.
It took about half an hour to make all the rivets, but I can sit back an relax.
The pattern was quickly made in Autocad.
The painting was a bit of a tryout of different techniques.
I think painting is not my speciality... I need to practice a bit more on the rust.
It did not came out the way I wanted but it is ok.
