Finally.

Here are some pics. of the area I "freshened up" to match the rest of the layout.

I had this non-stopping engine failure saga going on, since 2018 or was it 2019.
Work on the layout was reduced to a strict minimum.
Other modeling projects also came to a halt.

I had to get the car back on the road.

And when I would have had the time to post on the Forum,
I preferred to do some modeling.  It was posting or modeling.

So don't get too mad at me, as sometimes I would need 100 hour days,
to get half of the things done, I want to be done.

If only I could stop going to work,
but getting money anyway would be the solution, but....

In the mid-'80s I had a layout with an interchange yard.
(actually an horizontal moving staging yard)

6 tracks, 5 trains stored and one empty.
6 identical SW 1500s, 5 stored in the yard and the 6th on the layout.

The one on the layout would collect a freight train,
and go to the staging yard and park on the empty track.

Then move the yard to line the next track,
and the "same loco" would pull it's train back onto the layout.

As cars would get mixed with the ones already on the layout,
trains going in and back of the staging yard would always be different.

Saw a similar concept used with a vertical moving yard.

Jose.

I like also the abandoned track and tank car.

A few vines growing on it would look great also.

Jose.

Jose

The growing vines really is a good idea.

Here a view of the whole abandoned track.

The caboose still needs some big time weathering,
and also growing vines.

Great....

I love abandoned vehicles.

Hope I will some day reach this stage of layout detailing.

What's the story behind the short piece of track on the abutment?

The abandoned track is a leftover from the tracks, when I first built this part of the layout.

As I did not want to waste time building new bridges, I just re-used the existing ones,
and left this piece without a bridge, as it was not interfering with the new tracks,
and thought this would make a nice abandoned track later on.

I would have painted it rusty, but that color is one of those that dried out.

Hi Alain

Good to see the NEW photos of your layout.  :thumb:

You have turned what could be 'an annoying corner' ...  :f:

... into an totally AMAZING big sweeping vista !

I love this 'cupola eyes view' of the action near the water tank ...  :thumb:

... the trees & backdrop both look great.  :s: :s: :s: :s: :s:

I'm with Jose on a big-up ! for the abandoned tankcar spur !! ...  :old dude:

... Or are they using it for water ?  L:  ... Maybe it sprung a LEAK though !  :P

What is the automobile that has been keeping you busy ? ...  ???

... Do I recall right, in thinking you have a Vintage Merc. or something ?  :us:

(or maybe I'm going NUTZ ?)

:java::moose:

and left this piece without a bridge

A tree growing between the rails would give further abandoned "character",
and also conveniently hide the fact that there is no bridge no more.
Plenty of prototype pics all over.

Jose.
