Lee:
It may be a future acquisition.
It is certainly on my mind as many years ago John Henderson and I got a cab ride,
in a leased Milwaukee SW on the Chehalis & Western.
In fact, that was the first trip I made with John.
Would have been 1976.
Speaking of John, I got a look at the Union Pacific Historical Society's new book on the Camas Prairie.
What a beautiful book! It has a few John Henderson photos scattered around in it.
I ordered my own copy.
Well worth the price ($100) for anyone interested in PNW railroading. Heck, railroading in general.
The print quality is very high and the photography is stunning.

I went shopping. None to be had.
Broadway Limited has an undecorated SW-7. But nothing in Milwaukee.
Just as well. I shouldn't spend anymore money this month.
Of course... if someone has one gathering dust somewhere...

No telling what will show up.
Acquired from the Andrews Lumber Co.
Why?
I don't know.

The stack needs a little work.
But she will be ready for excursion work soon.
Conversely, in the spirit of the Scene Library,
just some 1950s logging.

Love the Rayonier style mallet, Reg !
I'm between the old railroad camp near Hoquiam,
where many of those were used,
and Vail, where others like it were also used in the logging lines.
Of course, they're all gone now.
But in your case, you could justify it,
as the company boss decided to keep one steam loco on the property,
because he just wanted to.
With a few old interurban cars (like they used at Vail),
you could have where they just kept the passenger equipment,
and take people on rides for special occasions.
If I'd modeled a line like this in the diesel era,
you can count on that I would have done something like that.

Reg & Lee
Well Andrews Lumber needed more cash to finance their new diesel fleet.
Unfortunately MILW damaged one so they are hiring a replacement out,
until Andrews get a new motor.
Reg
I can't now remember your time frame for Henderson Bay Timber,
but as you know I wanted some steam on my early 1960s mainly diesel show.
So I replicated Rayonier and said there is a branch which is almost worked out,
and not worth relaying for diesel lokeys.
So allows me to run a Pacific Coast Shay and a mallet.
Best regards
Alan

One of my first trips with John Henderson included a cab ride,
on a leased MILW switcher on the Chehalis & Western.
I've got photos somewhere.
Hmmm. I am thinking...
But really, all the HBTCo needs is another locomotive.

Think this might be the unit on that trip.

It could well be.
The shot gives me some detailing information when the model arrives.
Yeah. I ordered one. It is due to arrive around the end of December.
The timber company now has a lot more active motive power than the branch line.

Even with progress on the 3/4" scale Shay moving along,
things happen on the HO layout.
In this case, weather, price and demand are coming together
to stress the Henderson Bay Timber Company power to the limit.
So leased power will show up from time to time.

It is way to clean.
