Only two of my locos have numbers (factory).
I'm going to program each of my locos soon, and want to add paint or whatever, the loco number.
What do you use?
Decals (which are best?).
Hand painted (That would take a steadier hand than mine).

I have painted numbers on one loco, looks like a three year old did it,
the rest of my locos have decals.
For me decals are the best way,
as long as you use the setting agents, for easy sliding and setting.
Not sure of the best decals to use,
I'm sure someone will answer that question for you.

One of the other facets of my scale modelling
(apart from Sci-Fi, Model Rail, and the occasional large scale aircraft)
is 1/35th scale armour.
I have two specific sets of brass numbering (and unit marking) stencils.
And I am going to give these a go soon, on a couple of HO locos to complete numbering,
and I'm also going to renumber some HO scale box cars too.
I'll post some photos once I'm done in another week or so.
I have to get to my week of holidays first.
Too tired after work to even think about modelling at the moment.
I aim to use a cosmetic sponge to sponges the numbers on the locos and cars.

I use decals on rolling stock. Either Champ or K4. K4 decals can be found on eBay, and only need to be soaked in water for about 10 seconds.
On structures I often use dry transfers.
Even though I model in 1/35 scale I ignore what's labeled as HO or O scale and just go by size like 1/8" or 1/4" decals.
I keep a container full of decals ready for the next upcoming project.
