The longer I look at the picture (and the real thing)
I feel there is something very wrong.

**IF** the gearbox would be a short distance further forward,
it would disappear behind the lavatory section with the oval window...
and the difference in length of the two driveshafts would be less.

I think I will take apart the floor with the gearbox bracket,
and adjust the shafts accordingly.

Have corrected my previous mistake(s).

Ripped the floor + gearbox bracket apart and rearranged things.

Much better now!

Vast change in appearance,

with the realignment of the drive shaft length's.

Looking good.

Finished!

Runs ok with the new 1:50 gearhead motor + ZIMO decoder.

As a last afterthought, I have put pilots up front and rear
(she apparently was single directional)
and a steam headlight on the roof in the rear.

Made one of the baggage doors functional... gearhead motor visible inside.
Maybe will put a baggage pile over it.

View of underbody with intermediate gearbox + homebuilt driveshafts.

Well done Corv8

What a great looking model,
something different and very interesting.

The repositioned gear drive has made a lot of difference to the appearance,
and it looks more practical.

:apl:  :thumb:  :2t:

Is there much noise from the drive when it is running?

Seeing the good result,
has given me a few ideas for some future projects.

.....Peter.

Glad you like it...

No, only some subdued whine from the open gearhead...
the transferbox gears and drive shafts turn so slow that they don't produce any noise.

I am very happy with the use of the diesel truck tower as a transfer/ reduction gearbox,
this may be useful for many applications.
