Hello !!

I have been lurking for a while and decided to join.

Currently I have a small room sized HO standard gauge layout,
that is about 70% completed.

I haven't done anything to it for about 20 years,
except run trains for the kids.

Some parts of the layout design just don't work well,
so I have decided to dismantle it and start over.

My main interest is shortline and narrow gauge.
This time I am going with On30.

Hopefully I can find the time to be an active model railroader again.
The dismantling has begun, here are some before photos.

..... Bob

Welcome to the Forum Bob.

The layout you are dismantling is a very good looking layout,
almost a shame to dismantle it.

You have a lot of skills in scenery techniques.
Looking forward to some pics. of the new layout as it progresses.

Hi Bob

Agree that its a pity to loose such a nice layout...

But it's your pike and you may know why.
Just curious, what was wrong with it ?

Anyway, do you have more "before" pictures,
and maybe a track plan ?

Hey back from NY. (Northville) Nice layout there
I love your dig in and do it attitude.

Narrow Gauge does make for some fun scenes.
And O scale is incredible for the details, it looks to me like you will love to create.
The combination will allow for an HO size layout, and curves in the larger scale.
Lots of fun.

Logging & Mining and the old short passenger cars running through the tall tree's,
will be great fun I am sure.

I just joined myself.
I was very pleased to see this Forum was inhabited by some excellent modelers.

And even though I probably can't get real active here,
it would be good to share information and techniques and pick up a few myself,
the hobby always has new ways of doing things and tricks to save time and money.

I have to introduce myself as well,
but thought I'd say hi.

Thanks for the compliments on the old railroad.

It was okay - but did have a few operational issues,
unwanted uncoupling, derails, and other miscellaneous stuff.

It had too much track for my current desires.
I'm changing to a larger scale and a less complex railroad.

My new motto - KEEP IT SIMPLE.

Here are a few more photos of the old RR....

Bob

Definitely getting a Furlow vibe from your work.
Looking forward to following your new layout.

I like the dry western scenery.
Are you going to follow the same theme?

Keep posting!

My plan is to use the same type scenery,
but have less track.

Probably limited to mining only.

I'm still gathering ideas.
This isn't going to happen quickly.

;)

Hi Bob

Sometimes folks Post lots of GREAT photos in their 'Joining Freerails' Threads.

Which are always enjoyed by everyone !

But they are quickly 'lost in time' as more 'Joining Freerails' Threads are added.  :f:

So what we've been doing of late, is moving such Threads, to their subjects Forum.

In others words, I'd like to move this one of yours, to the 'HO & OO Scale' Forum.  :)

Folks looking for HO layouts & inspiration, are more likely to spot yours there !

You'd also have an instant HO Thread, perhaps to impress us with more views !  :P

I could rename the 'Title' a bit as well, so it is listed more as a layout Thread.

:s:  :s:  :s:  :s:  :s:
