I tried clicking on the link ^^ above.
It spent ages, using up my data, loading a ton of YouTube junk
& then AFTER all that happened, just said "Browser Not Supported"
Click HERE to 'upgrade' your out of date Browser (or something ?)
I don't click the 'I AGREE' button on Ad. & Spam sites like F*c$B**%
I would be VERY VERY WARY as well, on clicking any 'upgrade HERE' links
Unless it is from a KNOWN trusted source & not hackers or spammers
I'm told F*c$B**% is GREAT for drain-unblocking how to advice !
& where to buy expensive 'beauty products' from, but Trains ?
Pull the other one Suckerburger, it's got a whistle on it !
F*c$B**%s main objective is to KILL OFF all their 'competition'
Taking as much of your time & money in the process, of course !
Having said that, if F*c$B**%s sees this & wants an Ad. on Freerails
We'll take the money & maybe even grovel for it, if it's "telephone numbers" !

Gerold, the very early vertical-boiler cabless Shay you Posted, is a PEACH !
That totally made my day, its lumber constructed chassis & all !
Nice links to the dudes top-notch 'Shay Site' as well.

Eddie

I use Firefox (newest version) with the built-in blocking capabilities,
and had no problem in opening the site without any pop-ups etc.

Same with Chrome.... and a simple free Adblocker....
I avoid FB like the plague....
But some of its pages may be viewed without being molested.
Eddie, what browser do you use? -
and I agree, I wouldn't click on anything there.

I think I must have seen just about every 'oDd' Shay photo going.
The ONLY truly cabless or topless Shay I've ever seen, is in Post-2.
But that, by no means whatsoever, doesn't mean they didn't exist.
THEY DID !
If you were a 'back in the day' photographer, with 100s LBs of gear,
would you be looking to photograph rusty old wrecked T-boiler Shays ?
NO, of course you wouldn't !
Even the Kinsey brothers had 'priorities' as to what got photographed.
Shiny new Shays, with the logging company owner next to them, YES.
The one that got pulled out of a gulch, or had its cab caught fire, NO.
I suspect most sane photographers of the day would rather stay in town.
May get a shot of John Wayne riding down Main St. on a white elephant !
I would build the On30 model & get it finished as proof of 'conformity'.

Si.

Interesting write up on the Munro SHAYs,
certainly a different cab design then I've ever seen before.
